Hello, My name is Melody. I grew up in Granada Hills, CA. I lived in San Diego 5 years and used to vacation here. In 1993, my family bought Lake Place Resort and relocated here to beautiful Lake County. I was a residential appraiser for a few years while our family ran Lake Place Resort in Glenhaven. I also worked several years in the wine industry as an accounting team member.

My story starts with my paternal grandmother. I never knew her as she passed away from metastatic breast cancer before I was born. My Dad was 19 yrs old at the time and was deeply affected most of his life by the loss of his precious mom. If you’d ask me when I was younger if I’d be up against the same battle at age 52 with a 17-yr old, I’d say: No, it wasn’t even on my thinking radar! Turns out one of my five sibling sisters and I both tested positive for BRCA1 genetic mutation. Sadly, she was diagnosed at a similar time with cancer in her fallopian tube. She passed away at 51 in early 2021. This breast cancer fight includes lots of integrative and standard of care treatments combined. I’m so thankful I found my soulmate, Louis, and we were married August 3, 2020 with very few friends attending in person and the rest on Zoom. I’ve had two surgeries, been through multiple chemo/immunotherapy cancer treatments, been to Mexico to Hoxsey Center twice and Baja Gerson Clinic once. All integrative and holistic aspects of the treatments have been out-of-pocket costs. Unfortunately, my husband also got a foot injury and found out he has two degenerative discs in 2020. He has to change careers from being a General Contractor. We’ve managed to live on savings, a monthly disability payment and loving-kind gifts from family and friends. Louis has been by my side through it all, along with my son Jett. I’m deeply thankful to my loving family and friends. Thank you too for your kind participation in this loving event for our family. Our family has faith in God’s promises that one day “No resident will say “I am sick” (Isaiah 33:24); until that day we will continue to persevere, prayerful, and hopeful for better things ahead.
