Weed Abatement/Fire Protection Guidelines

Deadline June 1 of Each Year

UNIMPROVED LOTS

  • Clear all dry brush and weeds to a distance of not less than 30 feet from the road.

  • Trim tree limbs to a height of 6 feet from the ground.

  • Clear all brush and weeds on your property to at least 100 feet clearance from any structures on adjoining lots.

  • Thin ENTIRE lot of all brush and fuels so a person can walk through the lot easily.

  • Remove ALL dead, dying and diseased trees.

  • Weeds and grass on the ENTIRE lot shall be maintained to a height of NO MORE than 3-inches during fire season (June 1 through November 30).


IMPROVED LOTS

Criteria for unimproved lots PLUS:

  • Clear all dry brush and weeds to a distance of not less than 30 feet from the road.

  • Clear all dry brush and weeds to a distance of not less than 30 feet AROUND any structure.

  • FLAMMABLE VEGETATION may not come in contact with any part of the structure of decks.

  • Remove any portion of any tree that extends within 10-feet of the outlet of any chimney or stovepipe.

  • Maintain the roof and gutters of any structure free of leaves, needles or other dead vegetation.

  • Weeds and grass on the ENTIRE property shall be maintained to a height of NO MORE than 3-inches during fire season (June 1 through November 30).

Clearance means mowing or weeding to a height of not more than THREE INCHES.

Non-compliant property owners or those who have not reached an agreement with the Association will be fined $500.00 and warned that the Association will begin clearing the property. The county will be entrusted with the enforcement of dead trees on lots located in the region's Special Assessment Zone. Homeowners will be responsible for enforcement costs.
